Multilingual menus
Multilingual menu for restaurants in Portugal
Portugal welcomes millions of foreign visitors every year, and most of them decide where to eat without speaking Portuguese. A menu that only exists in one language closes the door on part of that traffic before the guest even walks in.
Five languages, one menu
The Akuti Digital Menu is available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian and French. The guest picks the language on the screen already in their hand — no laminated sheets behind the counter, no depending on whoever's on the floor speaking the right language at that moment.
One change, five languages updated
This is what actually saves time: each dish's content is managed in one place in the backoffice, not five separate menus. Change a price, sell out a dish or add a special, and the change appears immediately across every active language — no risk of the English version keeping the old price while the Portuguese one's already been fixed.
Who handles the translation
The initial focus is always Portuguese and English: we work with you to get dish names and descriptions right, using the terminology restaurants actually use in each language — not a literal, word-for-word translation that sounds off to a native speaker. Spanish, Italian and French are also supported, and you switch them on whenever it makes sense for your restaurant — we work with you the same way on those languages once you decide to move ahead. And because every language's text lives in the same menu backoffice, you can edit any version at any time, without depending on us for a one-off fix.
Where it matters most
It makes more of a difference in some areas than others — historic centers, coastal towns, anywhere near hotels and tourist landmarks, where most guests on an average day might not be Portuguese. But even in a neighborhood restaurant, having the menu in English is less and less of an extra, and more and more of a baseline expectation.
One QR code, any language
There isn't a QR code per language. It's the same code on every table; the guest picks the language after opening the menu. That means you don't have to manage different stickers depending on the section of the room or the type of guest who usually sits there.
It translates the menu's structure too, not just the dishes
The menu isn't one long list — it's organized by moment of the day, like breakfast, starters or desserts, and that structure changes language too. A guest who only reads English browses the menu the same way a Portuguese guest does, without having to guess which section they're in.
Multilingual menu FAQ
Which languages are available?
Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian and French, all in the same digital menu.
Do I need to provide the translations?
Not on your own. Portuguese and English are the initial focus, worked on together with you, with attention to the terminology restaurants actually use so dish names sound natural. Spanish, Italian and French are also supported, and you can switch them on whenever it makes sense for your restaurant.
Can I update the translations after they're published?
Yes. Every language is edited directly in the menu backoffice, at any time — you don't need to ask us to fix or update a piece of text.
Does each language have its own QR code?
No. It's the same QR code on every table; the guest picks the language after opening the menu.
If I change a price, do I have to change it in every language?
No. The change is made once in the backoffice and propagates immediately to every active language.
